Hi, I'm Sarah.
Welcome to SNP Counseling!
Let's be honest, life is hard.....and that is without expereincing any adverse trauma! When you combine our normal day to day challenges of every day life with traumautic experiences (which can range from physical/sexual/emotional/verbal abuse to hospitalizations/medical trauma, grief/loss, car accidents, etc...) sometimes it can feel unbearable. We try our best to change, making every effort to do things differently, "think positively", read self-help books and listen to every podcast possible, yet nothing changes internally. Those same burdens and beliefs keep rearing their heads and continually evoke feelings of shame, guilt, loneliness, being unlovable, unwanted and/or not good enough. What persists are the parts of us that so desperately try to push those feelings down in any way they can. We do this by experiencing extreme emotions like anxiety, depression, sadness, anger and many more. We also engage in many behaviors like isolation, thinking versus feeling, aggressive behaviors, finding comfort in an addiction, etc...
Walking through all of this can make therapy feel overwhelming, intimidating and challenging. It can also lead to feelings of hopelessness especially if you've had therapy and it hasn't helped.
I believe I can help you change that. By working together and looking internally, we can truly understand the "why" behind what you are doing, and slowly begin to heal your wounds. You can then operate the way you are SUPPOSED to, living life from your authentic self as opposed to responding from a wounded place. I primarily utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to achieve this change. This is an evidenced based practice that is transformational and can re-wire the neural networks of the brain to create change. To find out more about IFS here: https://ifs-institute.com/.
Let me tell you more about me and why I am qualified to get you there. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado, a Level 3 Trained and Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist, and an Approved Internal Family Systems Clinical Consultant. I have been practicing therapy since 2013. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with children, families, teens, couples and individuals of all ages and am specialized in treating complex trauma. Now, I provide individual therapy to anyone over the age of 15, supporting them through their anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other presenting issues. Please note that because I am licensed in the state of Colorado, I am only allowed to provide therapeutic services to those whose permanent residence is in Colorado.
As an Approved IFS Clinical Consultant, I also provide consultation services to those who are using the IFS model and desire to continue to grow in their utilization of this modality. Any hours of clinical consultation provided by myself can count towards IFS certification. If you are seeking IFS consultation, I am able to provide this service to anyone, regardless of location.
I consider this work to be a sacred space and am so blessed to be able to join with people as they move towards a place of healing. I do not know what has brought you to this place of seeking therapy, but I am so glad you are here. I consider it an honor and a privilege to even have you consider me being a part of your healing journey. I would be honored if you let me share in this sacred space with you!
